What's New in VC 2.0
VC 2.0 formalizes several patterns the ecosystem had already converged on informally — clearer data integrity proofs, better support for selective disclosure, and a more precise definition of credential status and revocation.
Why It Matters for TrustGrid
TrustGrid credentials were already built close to the spirit of VC 2.0, so the migration is closer to a formality than a rebuild. That's a deliberate consequence of building on open standards rather than a proprietary format.
Building on open standards means the spec catches up to you almost as often as you catch up to it.
Migration Path
- Existing VC 1.1 credentials remain verifiable — no forced re-issuance
- New credential schemas default to VC 2.0 starting this quarter
- Verifier libraries are updated to accept both versions transparently
